We are at the heart of the Castello district, home to most of Venice’s local residents

Laguna Mare is located at the beginning of Via Garibaldi, in the heart of the district of Castello, where most of the city’s local residents live. The restaurant opens on the beautiful Riva dei Sette Martiri, which is the long walkway connecting Piazza San Marco to the Giardini della Biennale, overlooking the San Marco basin. We feel at home in Via Garibaldi: in the morning, the street becomes a lively show of fish, fruit, and vegetable market stands and of people out shopping, meeting, chatting, and drinking coffee or a glass of wine (“ombra”). It has a familiar town atmosphere with many shops and venues that bring life to the street, from morning to evening. This is where we found the most authentic Venice!
